The James Service Award honors the memory and work of lodge members James Moore and James Entwistle who were two early members of Hunnikick Lodge #76 and were instrumental in the establishment of the Order in Burlington County. The James Service Award is given to Scouts and Scout Leaders to recognize their outstanding service and devotion to the Order Of the Arrow. The award is a hand made copper arrowhead hung on a red and white ribbon to be worn around the neck.

The following are the guidelines and rules for selecting award recipients:

Current lodge members who are registered with the Boy Scout Burlington County Council and have their lodge dues current are eligible to be considered for the award.

The count will be, one per 50 lodge members or part thereof for the past year registration. There is an exception for all executives, council president, council camping chairman and council camp ranger to exceed the quota as long as the youth rule is still met.
*

The total of recipients must consist of at least 50% or more of youth.
*

The election of youth is considered first, if any spots are left, then adults are considered, then the exceptions if any spots are left.
*

The voting is done at the Lodge Leader Development weekend and the award is given at the annual lodge banquet. The selection will be kept secret until the banquet.

Only current holders of the James Service Award are members of the selection committee, if registered as above and their lodges dues is current. The votes cast are by all (youth and adults) who are present at the time of selection. Arrowhead Achievement holders are not members of the selection committee.

A youth recipient from the previous year who is present at the meeting is designated the chairman with an adult from the previous year as his advisor.

The James Service Award tradition originated in 1990.
